Best Time To Travel to

Cancun/Riviera Maya

Weather
The most popular time to visit Cancun/Riviera Maya

The most popular time to visit Cancun is from December through April. The weather is generally clear and warm, but not too hot. Occasionally, rain and cold fronts can blow in chillier weather for a few days.

If you’re hoping for a higher chance of good weather for your wedding, avoid planning your destination wedding during hurricane season! In Cancun, the hurricane season occurs between the start of June and the end of November, with the highest risk of hurricanes between September and October.

Affordability
Prices for Cancun hotels and resorts
Prices for Cancun area hotels and resorts tends to be lowest from May to June and between September to early December. This is because the temperature, rainfall, and humidity are higher during this time so tourists are less inclined to visit.
Travel Seasons in Cancun/Riviera Maya
The travel seasons are high season, low season, and shoulder season. All of them have their pros and cons, so it’s up to you to decide the best time to have your wedding in Cancun based on what kind of destination wedding you imagine.

The high season in Cancun and the Riviera Maya starts in mid-December and goes until the end of March. December brings holiday crowds wanting to escape the cold for Christmas and New Year. March is when the spring breakers start partying in the resorts and on the beaches.

Cancun and the Riviera Maya's low season is from June to October since this time is the rainy season in Mexico. Days are super hot with lots of rain and unpredictable weather. But it’s not pouring all the time, the rain typically comes for a short while and is followed by sunny skies during these months.

During the months of April, May, November, and the beginning of December, Cancun sees less crowds, pleasant weather, and decent rates. It won’t be as inexpensive as low season, shoulder season is still the best time to have your destination wedding in Cancun and the Riviera Maya!
